Klarafestival believes that music connects. That’s why we engage with various projects that have a
social impact. We bring music to people who can’t attend concerts (any more), reduce obstacles for
those having difficulty accessing culture, and stimulate musical presentation and collaboration deep
in the social fabric of the city.

During our minifestival, Klarafestival takes care of you, young, talented musicians tour various Brussels healthcare institutions. Klarafestival in the Care Sector is a binding, intergenerational project to which we remain committed.

Art is for everyone. But the path to art is not equally simple for everyone. With Jouw Sleutel (Your Key), we invite to a concert those who find it less easy to access classical music. We offer explanatory information, a drink and a snack, and personally accompany you into the concert hall. Together with our social partners, we are removing barriers.

MUSIKAA is an inspirational learning process whereby, together with cultural partners in Molenbeek, we create new projects across borders, involving both amateur and professional musicians. We are engaged in long-term projects in the heart of the city.

Klarafestival also offers a platform to young artists. In the Klarafestival BOX, the world’s smallest concert hall, promising student-musicians from Belgian conservatories perform brief, 15 minute concerts, each time to a limited audience. These concerts are free and are intended to bring random passersby into contact with classical music.

In addition, Klarafestival, together with a number of partners, organises the SUPERNOVA chamber music competition. Each year we set out to find two young chamber music ensembles with a distinctive approach to classical music. The SUPERNOVA-competition winners receive a Belgian concert tour that kicks off at Klarafestival.

Finally, Flanders Brussels Festival operates as sustainably and ecologically as possible. We encourage visitors, musicians and partners to reduce their ecological footprint, and we ourselves do everything possible to ensure this. Walden Festival is the notable pioneer here. They have even drawn up a detailed sustainability charter!
