klarafestival takes care of you 2023

on tour in brussels healthcare institutions

2 May sees the kick-off of the third edition of 'Klarafestival takes care of you'Talented young musicians tour Brussels healthcare institutions and treat their residents to top-notch concerts. This allows us to bring music to people for whom travelling to a concert hall is no longer possible. We thereby strengthen social cohesion: residents, staff and family members have the chance to enjoy culture together. And for the young musicians, it’s a great opportunity to discover the connective power of music outside the concert hall.Talented young musicians tour Brussels healthcare institutions and treat their residents to top-notch concerts.

music & dance

This year we invited young reed players from the Woodwork Reed Quintet for a series of concerts at seven healthcare institutions. Among others, the quintet plays Eurekaantjes Miljoenen by the young composer Michiel De Naegel, who composed his work during a residency at one of the participating care homes. The result of a collaboration as part of Art.is.t.care, a connecting initiative from Flemish minister Benjamin Dalle.

But there’s more. Thanks to a collaboration with Labolobo, PARTS school for contemporary dance, Danscentrum Jette and the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels, we’re also adding dancing with the elderly residents to the mix this year. Young dance and music students will give an improvised performance in one of the participating care homes. This marks the start of a longer initiative, which will continue to work in the care sector after Klarafestival.

'Klarafestival takes care of you' will take place from May 2 to 11 at the Brussels healthcare institutions Henri Dunant, La Cerisaie, Audrey Hepburn day center, Viva Jette, Villa Pilifs, Médori day center and Eureka.
