What are Izran and Chaabi? What do they sound like, what is their history and what role do women have in them? Immerse yourself in two traditional Moroccan musical genres during this introduction, with singer Laïla Amezian, Molenbeek musician Fatoum and musicologist Hélène Sechehaye.

This interactive lecture is in Dutch and French.

Feel like more? During MUSIKAA 2022, Fatoum and Laïla will bring Chaabi and Izran music to the public, together with female local residents and professional musicians.

Talks, concerts and workshops at Muntpunt

In partnership with Muntpunt and Davidsfonds, Klarafestival provides some background and clarification to the festival theme and the concerts. This year, we expand on the traditional format of talks to include a workshop and a concert for the little ones. Both before and during Klarafestival, Muntpunt will be the go-to place to explore the festival theme, learn about jazz legend Branford Marsalis, take part in a session based on centuries-old musical traditions and introduce children to classical music. Reservations can be made at www.muntpunt.be.
