With his vocal ensemble Dionysos Now!, tenor Tore Tom Denys has a sole mission: to share the underexposed work of fellow townsman Adriaan Willaert with as many people as possible. In the 16th century, the polyphonist from Roeselare became Master of the Chapel of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice. The appointment says a lot about his reputation: Willaert was an international superstar. Inspired by his great example Josquin Desprez, he sought to achieve maximal symbiosis between words and music in his work.

For a long time, his St John Passion was attributed to his student Cipriano De Rore. It is now virtually certain that it was penned by Willaert himself. The composer tells the Passion story in a fluid play of textures: from three-part when Jesus speaks to six-part when the mob is stirred. Harpsichordist Catalina Vicens intercedes with two rhythmic highlights by the 20th century composer György Ligeti.
