The finale of the four-year Musikaa programme gives Molenbeek’s talent every opportunity to shine on the stage of the renovated Vaartkapoen. Under the inspired direction of Laïla Amezian, the Moroccan Chaabi and Gnawa traditions meet in a festive mix; with her choir Suyt Izran, Fatoum explores the work songs of metalworkers and metro diggers from the Riffian diaspora; children and adults challenge the public musically under the umbrella of Foyer; the ReMua youth orchestra blows the roof off; and Molenbeek artists convey the atmosphere of the Brussels’ most talked-about municipality. All ages are welcome, festive atmosphere guaranteed!

13:00 discover oud-molenbeek

Would you like to explore Molenbeek? Then get going with the brand-new DIY walk, or take a guided tour of Oud-Molenbeek with Brukselbinnenstebuiten prior to the start of the concerts. This explores the historical centre of the quarter. In the 19th century, this rural village evolved into an industrial suburb of Brussels. When the industry pulled out from the 1960s onwards, Oud-Molenbeek entered into a deep crisis. Although the figures for poverty and unemployment are still very high, there has been a positive evolution in the last 20 years. What do these innovations mean for Molenbeek residents?

  • 13:00 start of the guided tour at the Graaf van Vlaanderen metro stop

  • 14:30 end at GC De Vaartkapoen

The walk is free of charge, but prior registration is required. Register via info@klarafestival.be, stating the desired language of the walk (dutch or french).
