We had to miss you for a long, long time. Klarafestival 2020 was supposed to take place in March. Unfortunately, COVID-19 put an early end to the festival. But now we found new dates for two performances that we organised in a 100% coronaproof setting. Lisbeth Gruwez's dance performance Piano Works Debussy played in October (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 9th and 10th) at the KVS. Rewatch a part of the performance in the video below.
Piano Works Debussy is a physical duet between choreographer Lisbeth Gruwez and pianist Claire Chevallier. Together they look for the space in between the notes of Claude Debussy’s compositions for piano – rebel and challenger among the form-abiding composers. The dance movements are suggestions, not expressions, in line with Debussy’s quest for ‘la musique immatérielle’. Instead of showing a rigid reality, they give space to imagination behind the veil of the material world.
