musikaa: de vaartkapoen

Alex Deforce, Jordi Grognard, Abid Bahri and DJ ATHOME (Front de Cadeaux)

Alex Deforce discovered Molenbeek on foot at the invitation of De Vaartkapoen. As a word artist, he translates his experiences and wonder into words. Following the example of the Secretes Sessions project, Deforce locked himself into De Vaartkapoen with a diverse group of local musicians: reed player Jordi Grognard, oud player Abid Bahri and producer DJ ATHOME (Front de Cadeaux) have written music to accompany the word artist’s experiences transformed into words.

about musikaa

“A good neighbour is better than a distant friend.” With this in mind, Klarafestival and BOZAR aim to reconnect with the people of Brussels and their habitat. One step in that direction is MUSIKAA: a collaboration with the Municipality of Molenbeek and some of the many cultural partners in the area.

This year, five organisations in Molenbeek invited local talent to take part in five artistic projects. We present these projects in five video portraits and five portrait photos, which will be used to brighten the streets of Molenbeek from March 21. Visitors can plan their own routes using these photos as a guide. Moreover, if they scan the QR codes they can instantly discover the video portraits.
